Ever felt like you “don’t fit in” in the yoga community? Just because you don’t see yourself/your identity represented in yoga media right now, does NOT mean that you don’t belong in the yoga world.
You might not see many representations of your body type, your color, or your level of flexibility in the yoga magazines… Or, you may find an article about the 8 limbs of yoga in a publication where your identity isn’t represented…
And you may think “well, they seem to really know what they’re talking about” and “they really know the roots of yoga”... And that may lead you to conclude that you just don’t fit in with the yoga community.
But the truth is, it doesn’t matter how knowledgeable a leader or a community is about yoga… they may know a lot about yoga philosophy and even know a lot about yoga’s roots… but if they aren’t advocating for equity & inclusion in yoga, they are NOT embodying the heart of yoga.
In this video I dive deeper into the importance of diversity in yoga:
The heart of yoga is UNITY. And yoga is not a concept. It’s a practice of embodiment. So, it must be led by example.
Have you been secretly, silently longing to deepen your practice of yoga? I have lots of yoga secrets to share with ALL people interested in yoga. But first, I’m here to tell you that you DO belong here.
Together we can honor the roots of yoga and bring more diversity & representation to the modern yoga culture. It starts by releasing any internalized shame or judgment that you have about yourself and your abilities.
Let go of thinking you know what a yoga teacher “should” look like or what they “should” be able to do. Instead, start listening to your heart, my friend.
Listen to your curiosity, your longing for deeper knowledge and wisdom, and the call to service stirring inside of you.
If you long to deepen your experience of mind, body & soul growth, then you belong in the yoga community.
So glad you’re here!
